Henry Bennett Obituary

Henry Leeroy Bennett, 82, of Rossiter, passed away at home on Monday, December 29, 2025.

He was born in Punxsutawney on December 07, 1943, of the late James Robert Bennett and Ella Grace (McQuown) Bennett.

Mr. Bennett served in the United States Army.  His service reflected quiet commitment and honor, and he carried the values he learned in uniform throughout his life.

He was a member of the Rossiter American Legion.

On January 3, 1964, he married the former Frances Jane Shields.  They shared fifty-seven years, prior to her death on October 13, 2021.

Henry worked as a machinist at Acme Machine in Punxsutawney for many years.  He was also a skilled locksmith who worked with patience and precision.  Computers intrigued him, he enjoyed exploring anything that sparked his interest.  Henry was intrigued by all things technical and loved understanding the details behind them.  Yet, above all else, his greatest passion was his family, whom he lived for wholeheartedly, always being a steady, loving presence in their lives.

He is survived by two grandchildren, whom he dearly loved, Kyle Leonard of Reynoldsville and Tashawna Leonard of Northern Cambria; one great granddaughter, Storm Lynn Semelsberger; and a nephew, Jacob Shields; one brother, Joseph Bennett of Phillipsburg; sister in-law, Dorothy Bennett of Ringgold.

Preceded in death by his parents, wife Frances; his only daughter, Tammy Lynn Bennett; three sisters, Emma Grace Snyder, Beatrice Jarbeck and Shirley Bennett; two brothers, James Bennett and David Bennett; and one sister in-law, Elsie Bennett.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation.  Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
