Harry Lyle James, 81, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor.
He was born in Port Allegheny, Pennsylvania on October 12, 1943, a son of the late Thomas James and Cora (Cupp Yohe) James.
Mr. James was a United States Army Veteran proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War.
On November 28, 1996, he married the love of his life, Sandra Jean Sutter. Together, they enjoyed nearly twenty-nine years.
Harry worked as a driller of water well services, both in Florida and Pennsylvania.
He enjoyed hunting.
In addition to his wife Sandra, he is survived by two daughters, Dana (Robert) Dillard of Colorado and Robin (Derek) Hartman of Eagle Harbor, Florida; three grandchildren, Stephanie Garrett of Aurora Colorado, Chrysta Montanez of Knik, Alaska and Olivia Hartman; two great-grandchildren, Asher and Ephraim Garrett; three brothers, Thomas H. (Patricia) James of Wellsville, New York, Joseph (Kathleen) James of Dayton, and Richard (Linda) James of Ashland, Massachusetts; three sisters, Katherine “Kate” Watterson of Shelocta, Joyce (Joe) King of Shepard, Texas and Elizabeth “Dub” Pape of Anita.
Preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Joan Gray and Janet Shields; one brother, Stanley James.
Friends will be received from 2 -3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Punxsutawney. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Dan McConnell.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guard.
