Grant Montier Schuckers, 82. of Punxsutawney passed away Sunday, January 06, 2019 at McKinley Health Center.
He was born at home on the family farm on April 13, 1936, a son of the late Ralph Montier and Emma Mae (Weaver) Schuckers.
Mr. Schuckers was a member of the Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Airport Road. He attended church regularly and proudly took the collection for many years.
“Monty” worked as a farmer for his entire life on the very farm he was born on. His happiest days were spent plowing and harvesting the fields, tending to his cows daily and taking care of whatever needed done on the farm. He always had a smile on his rosy red cheeks and a kind word for all that he had the pleasure of meeting on any given day.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, the Past and Present Machine Association, the Plow Association.
He is survived by one brother, Doyle “Chuck” Schuckers and Charlotte of Big Run, one sister, Mary Ann Patterson of Punxsutawney; three nephews, Charles Schuckers and wife Tracy of Big Run, Tim Schuckers and wife Lisa of Big Run, Clayton Patterson and fiancé Donna Palmer of Punxsutawney, and Tammy Schuckers; two great nieces, eight great nephews, two great-great nephews, one great-great niece.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Zion Cemetery, Airport Road, Punxsutawney, officiated by Pastor Russell Crouthamel.
Interment will follow at Lakelawn Memorial Park.
