Glenn Gourley Anthony, 83, of Big Run, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at McKinley Health Center.
He was born in Henderson Township on November 03, 1940, a son of the late Milo Clyde Anthony and Irene (Gourley) Anthony.
On May 24, 1963, he married the love of his life, Florence Eleanor Stewart. They enjoyed sixty-one years of marriage together.
Glenn worked as a heavy equipment operator in the strip-mining business for Benjamin Coal and P&N Coal Company. He also operated equipment for PennDOT. He was a truck driver for over twenty years prior to retirement.
He was a member of the Past and Present Tractor association from Henderson Township. He enjoyed tinkering with farm tractors and helping other farmers around the local area. Glenn never met a stranger, he was very sociable and could strike up a conversation with anyone.
His favorite pastime was harassing his wife, Florence. They enjoyed watching the birds together. He was a very proud “Grampy”, and he loved to tell others how many grandchildren that he had.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Tammy (Reverend Robert) Davis of Buxton, North Carolina; Tom (Kowanda) Anthony of Lehighton, Pennsylvania; and Terry (Sherry) Anthony of Marion, Indiana; one brother, Milo Clyde (Susan) Anthony of Los Angeles, California; thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Max Anthony and John David Anthony.
Friends will be received from 2 – 6 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Brooks officiating.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Big Run.
