Gladys Mae Smith, 95, of Stump Creek, passed away a day before her 96th birthday on April 03, 2024, at Nelson’s Golden Years.
She was born in Crossfork, Potter County, Pennsylvania on April 04, 1928, a daughter of the late Elmer Knickerbocker and Ira Arvilla (Marsh) Knickerbocker.
On January 11, 1946, she married Ellis Donald Smith. He preceded her in death on January 03, 2004.
Gladys formerly worked as a nurses aid at Maple Ave Hospital.
She was an avid gardener, she loved going camping with her family, fishing, crocheting, reading and puzzles.
Surviving relatives include two children, Ronald (Linda) Smith of Punxsutawney and Jane L. (Dale) Dixon of Luthersburg; six grandchildren, Tim Dixon, Mike Dixon, Ronald R. Smith, Donald E. Smith, Kimberly Shaffer and Dustin Rowles; twelve great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Ellis, daughter Veda A. Smith, a grandson, William Dixon and a sister, Hilda Knickerbocker.
Friends will be received from 1p.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Barry Fillman.
Interment will be at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.
