George Franklin Shaffer

George Franklin Shaffer, 75, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022, at McKinley Health Center in Brookville.

He was born in East Branch (Coolspring area) on November 10, 1947, a son of the late Harry Shaffer and Mavel (Milliron) Shaffer.

On June 08, 1974, he married his sweatheart, Dorothy Hilliard. They enjoyed forty-eight years of marriage.  She survives and resides in Brookville.

Mr. Shaffer worked in the Maintenance Department at Brookville Hospital for many years.  He was very social and outgoing, he enjoyed working with people.

George had a special kindness for children and dogs.  In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is survived by by one daughter, Dorena Ross and husband Bill of Oceanside, California.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Harry Dale Shaffer, Sam Shaffer, William Shaffer and Warren Shaffer; two sisters, Sally Rehrig and Geraldine Himes.

In accordance to his wishes, there will be no visitation.  Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

His ashes will be interred at Center Hill Cemetery, Knoxdale.
