George Walter Pearce, 67, of Punxsutawney, passed away at home on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 01, 1956, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Robert William Pearce and Billie Patricia (Wazelle) Pearce.
George was a 1974 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.
On August 19, 1978, he married his best friend, Kimberly Jean Kunselman. They enjoyed nearly forty-six years of marriage and raised a family that absolutely meant the world to him.
Mr. Pearce grew up working at Robert Pearce and Sons Lumber Company. He and his brothers were the partners of the business and have maintained the operation following the loss of their father.
He and Kim were members of Steffy Chapel.
George was a kind, generous, hardworking, private and loving man. Spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews and friends brought him happiness and contentment. He loved to sit by the pond at home, travel on a motorcycle with his wife, play poker with his family, lottery and scratch offs and just enjoyed all the simple things of life every day, including hunting and golfing. He looked forward to hosting the Pearce family reunion each August. Supporting the local fire departments through gun raffles and events was important to him.
In addition to his loving wife, Kim, he is survived by three children, Holly (Roy) Grusky of Spring, Texas, Melissa Pearce of Reynoldsville and George W. Pearce, II of Punxsutawney; five grandchildren, Emma and Jeremy Grusky, Brandon, Trent and Leah Pearce; one great grandson, Hudson; three sisters, Lucy (Steve) Null of Reynoldsville, Patricia (Jay) Elkin of Shelocta and Angel (Rich) Gallina of Reynoldsville; two brothers, Tom (Janet ) Pearce of Home, and Kevin Pearce of Reynoldsville; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Pearce; two nephews, Bobby and Jason Pearce; one niece, Kayla Schaffer.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Saturday, officiated by Robin Smith.
Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill EUB Cemetery.
