Evelyn Kollar Obituary

Evelyn M. Kollar, 94, of Rossiter, passed away September 19, 2022, at Mulberry Square.

She was born on March 5, 1928, in Helvetia, PA the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Shulick) Yorko. On October 25, 1945, she married John Kollar who preceded her in death on December 31, 1990.

Evelyn was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Rossiter. Along with being a long-time member of the church, Evelyn worked for the church for 54 years along with being a CCD teacher.

Mom was a loving, caring mother to her family and friends, she was always putting other first. She was a true baker, when she was able to she would make 15 different cookie for Christmas. She loved Christmas time and made the family holidays special for everyone. She also was a fantastic cook and crocheter. Over the years she made many afghans for people. She loved to take care of people in need and was a caregiver to Ann McClusky, Ellen Daugherty and Betty Neal. She was known for making homemade chicken soup and homemade bread. She was noted for her fried dough boys.  She loved her faith and was known to pray for everyone who called her. Mom will be truly missed but will not be 4forgotten. In her younger years she enjoyed riding 4 wheelers and she would often tell people she felt as if she could fly.

Evelyn is survived by her three children: John Kollar and his wife Debbie of Rossiter, Carolyn Sitosky of Sykesville and Anna Marie Wetzel and her husband Ken of Rossiter; five grandchildren: Renee Zapack, Kenneth (Candy) Wetzel, Jamie Wetzel, Danny Wetzel and John Sitosky; two great grandchildren: Brittany (Michael) Muffly and Loren Janovich; three sisters: Agnes Semon of Glen Campbell, Marcella (Christopher) Owens of Connecticut and Margaret (Dick) Rivelli of Connecticut.

In addition to her parents and husband John, Evelyn was preceded in death by four siblings: Edward, Donald and Stephen Yorko, Dorothy Molinengo and Anna Hession.

There will be a private family viewing followed by a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the Church of the Resurrection in Rossiter with Father Jim Morley officiating. Burial will be in the Church of the Resurrection Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc, Punxsutawney.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Church of the Resurrection in Rossiter.
