Evelyn Dolores "Dee" Fye

Evelyn Dolores “Dee” (Armstrong) Fye, 90, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Mahoning Riverside Manor.

She was born in the Cloe area of Punxsutawney on October 26, 1932, a daughter of the late Edwin A. Dougherty and Clara L. (Graffius) Dougherty.

On March 25, 1950, she married William Earl Armstrong.  They enjoyed fifty-one years of marriage prior to his death on June 7, 2001.  Dee later married Peter Leroy Fye on October 21, 2006.  They enjoyed one another’s companionship and the time they spent together.  Pete promised to love her until the day he dies.

Dee attended the Wesleyan Methodist Church.

She worked for many years as a salesclerk at Stewart’s Drug Store.

Her enjoyments were cooking, watching Jimmy Swaggert, listening to gospel music, working puzzles and sitting outside at the gazebo.

In addition to her husband Pete, she is survived by a daughter, Bonnie (Jack) Kramer; four stepchildren, Edward Fye of Tennessee, Peter W. (Lisa) Fye of Punxsutawney, Karen Shepperly of New York and Sharon (William) Webb of New York; two granddaughters, Trinette Frink of Colorado and Michelle (Jeremy) Peace of Punxsutawney, five great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, first husband William Armstrong and one son, James Edward Armstrong; four brothers, Edwin, Paul, Robert, and Arnold Dougherty; one sister, Frances Gahagen.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until noon on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at the Wesleyan Methodist Church, 113 Lincoln Ave, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at Noon at the church, officiated by Paul Houseworth.  Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

Interment will follow at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.
