Esther "Snookey" Louise Grape

Esther “Snookey” Louise Grape, 58, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.

She was born in Punxsutawney on January 01, 1965, a daughter of the late Harold Burdett Craft and Helen Irene (Lingenfelter) Craft.  Being a New Years baby, it was tradition that her children, her brothers and sister called her on New Years Eve every year.

Esther worked as a home health caretaker for many years, she loved helping others.  She was also a co-owner and worked at Grape Fiberglass.  Not only was she a full-time mother to her own children but became like a second mother to her children’s friends over the years.

Snookey loved all animals.  Rescuing cats, feeding the turkey, deer, horses, and chickens was her passion.  She loved the peace and quiet of her home and enjoyed watching nature, taking a ride on the side by side and watching the sunsets.  Her laugh was hearty and contagious.

It goes without saying that she loved her family, her children and her grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Jeff Elliott, Jr and wife Kayla or Punxsutawney, Benjamin Elliott and Jen Keslar, and Jessica Tracy and husband Eric of Punxsutawney; ten grandchildren, Malakie Elliott, Natalie Elliott, Gage Elliott, Trenton Elliott, Quinn Elliott, Prudence Elliott, Jayden McHenry, Madden McHenry, Oakley Tracy and Emersyn Tracy; one sister, Barb Poole of Punxsutawney; five brothers, Harold “Yogi” (Louise) Craft, Russel “Rusty” (Mary) Craft, Daniel (Angela) Craft, Andrew D. Craft, and Chris Craft.

Preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Thomas Craft.

Friends will be received from Noon until 4 p.m. Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.
