Elaine Setree Obituary

Elaine Phyllis Setree, 91, of Rossiter, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Punxsutawney on October 15, 1932, a daughter of the late Clarence Lester Beatty and Isabell Louella (Limrick) Beatty.

Elaine was a 1951 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.

On November 29, 1952, she married the love of her life, William “Bill” George Setree, Sr., he preceded her in death on September 6, 2023.

Elaine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She raised a wonderful family and enjoyed cooking, baking, and canning for all of them.

In addition to taking care of her family, Elaine had previously worked as a bank teller at Keystone National Bank/Integra Bank, she also worked at the Nut Shoppe, at JCPenney’s catalog department store when it was located Punxsutawney, and at Jeff Tech as a secretary.

She enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress. Her handwork included sewing beautiful draperies, slipcovers and clothing for her daughters and their friends, as well as other sewing projects that came her way.

Surviving relatives include seven children, Joan (Don) Setree-Kemerer of Rossiter, Rebecca (John “Mingo”) Urchuck of Rossiter, Barbara (Gary) McKeown of Zelionople, William Setree, Jr. of Punxsutawney, Sandra Setree of Rossiter, Janeen (Dave) Love of Rossiter and Scott  Setree of Rossiter; fifteen grandchildren,  Jamie Reddinger, Andra Titus, Melissa Butler, Ryan McKeown, Mark Love, Mike Love, Andrew Love, Matthew Love, Billy King, Kera Koziara, Craig Setree, Hollyann Setree, Cody Setree, Christopher Setree and Jennifer Setree; ten great grandchildren, Madalyn Reddinger, Delaney Reddinger, Baily Butler, Brady Butler, Jaxon Love, Jase Love, Kullen Koziara, Koda Koziara, Greyson Love and Marlee Love; one brother, Russell Beatty of Kentucky; and one sister, Carole Monoskey of Punxsutawney; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, dear husband Bill; two brothers, Alan and Rayne Beatty; two sisters, Sally Ann Patterson and Josephine Beatty; one daughter in-law, Manette Setree; and a great granddaughter, Mavis Elaine Love.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation or viewing.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

Memorial donations may be made in Elaine’s memory to Rossiter Volunteer Fire Company or to Union Hill Cemetery.

Interment will be at Union Hill Cemetery, Rossiter.
