Eileen M Mayer

Eileen M. Mayer, 67 of Charles City, VA, passed away October 28, 2023.

She was born on February 13, 1956, in Punxsutawney, PA, the daughter of the late John and Rebecca (Means) McCullough. On September 8, 1979, she married Forest Mayer, who survives.

Eileen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a faithful servant to the Lord. Eileen enjoyed gardening- she grew roses and enjoyed making sure they were pruned exactly right that they would continue to produce the most beautiful blossoms. Eileen even had roses from her grandmother that she could pass down to the next generation. Eileen enjoyed learning about her Irish ancestry and its culture.

Eileen is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 44 years Forest Mayer; two children: Chelsey Hofmeyer and her husband Craig and Caleb Mayer and his wife Rachel; five grandchildren: Daniel and Gabriel Hofmeyer and Kenneth, Katherine, and Claire Mayer; four brothers: Thomas McCullough, Daniel McCullough, Michael McCullough, and John McCullough; and a sister, Coleen Tyler.

In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Clark Mayer and Chloe Mayer; and a sister, Patsy Dunmire.

The family will receive friends from 1pm until the funeral service at 2pm on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. Burial will be in Valier Cemetery.

Eileen loved roses, and in her memory contributing roses to the service would be appreciated.
