Dorothy Helen Kostok

Dorothy Helen Kostok, 96, of Punxsutawney, formerly of Bridgeton, New Jersey, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Mulberry Square Eldercare.

She was born at home in Porter Township, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late David Sylvanus Bish and Matilda Bell (Beam) Bish.

She grew up with a deep love for family and a zest for life that never faded. On September 07, 1946, she married the love of her life, William Kostok, Sr.  Together, they enjoyed sixty-nine years, countless memories and years of happiness, often dancing to the lively beat of Polka music.  Their love for Polka music and dancing lit up the dance floor with energy and joy. William preceded her in death on December 12, 2015.

Dorothy was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to anyone she ever met, her presence brightened the lives of all who knew her. Her life was a tapestry of family, friendship, and joyous celebrations, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, laughter and cherished memories.  Family reunions were a treasured time for Dorothy, she enjoyed the gatherings and always made sure everyone felt welcome and loved.  Her home was always open and filled with the aroma of her cooking, a skill she perfected over the years to the delight of her family and friends.

She is survived by one son, Robert Thomas (Barbara) Kostok of Punxsutawney, a daughter in-law, Beth Kostok of Bridgeton, New Jersey; four grandchildren, Jamie Kostok, David (Ashley) Kostok, Michael (Brooke) Kostok and Steven Kostok, four great grandchildren, Alana, Mason, Elliana and Brady Kostok; one great-great grandchild, Aurora Rae; one brother, Robert “Bob” D. Bish of Punxsutawney.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband William Sr; one son, William Michael Kostok, Jr.; grandson, William Michael Kostok; five brothers, Orman “Dean” Bish, Blair L. Bish, Earl C. Bish, Floyd “Jeff” Bish, and Harold D. Bish; four sisters, Edna R. Conrad, Alverda F. Richardson, Ozie H. Burdiss and Virginia Ayars.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held at the Parish of the Holy Cross / St. Teresa of Avila Roman Catholic Church, 46 Central Avenue in Bridgeton on Wednesday, November 06, 2024, at 11 o’clock.

Interment will take place at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton.
