Donna Jean Buffington

Donna Jean Buffington, 82, of Big Run, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, with her loving family by her side.

She was born on April 9, 1942, at home at Mauk’s Flats, North Mahoning Township,  Indiana County, a daughter of the late Blair Mauk and Althea (Hinderliter) Mauk.

On November 11, 1977, she married Jack Richard Buffington.  They enjoyed forty-seven years of marriage.  Jack survives and resides in Big Run.

Donna lived a life filled with kindness, humor and a deep appreciation for the little things.  She had an extraordinary ability to lift anyone’s spirits with her wit, warmth and positivity.

A true nurturer at heart, she found joy in sewing, tending to her garden, and discovering treasures at yard sales and flea markets.  She also loved to play Bingo and go fishing.

Above all, Donna was a loving wife and mother who devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family.

In addition to her husband Jack, she is survived by five children, Brenda (Michael Barrett) Mowery of Port Allegany, Joseph R.(Debbie) Spader, Jr. of Lebanon, David Spader of Port Allegany, Michael (Wendy) Spader of Big Run, and Ernie (Kandy) Spader of Reynoldsville; eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Charles (Cindy) Mauk of Valier; two sisters, Anna Butler of Hawthorn and Kathy Kilgore of Maddison, Ohio.

Preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, William and Ronald Mauk; two sisters, Karen Bable and Bonnie Marshall.

Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-7 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2024, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Joe Buterbaugh.
