Dennis Scott, 69, of Timblin, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024, at UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born in Punxsutawney, on January 29, 1955, a son of the late Donald Scott and Mary (Rishell) Scott.
Denny grew up with a love for the outdoors and a strong sense of determination. He found his calling in the gas fields, where he spent many years working tirelessly to support his family. He always took great pride in his role on the rigs and enjoyed working with his co-workers. He and his co-workers from Sam Jack Drilling, Dallas Morris Drilling and Northeast Energy endured all kinds of weather over the years to get the job done.
He loved riding motorcycles, taking road trips in his car, doing a little gambling at the casino and talking to his friends.
Denny is survived by two children, Jesse Scott of Timblin and Melissa Wright of Punxsutawney; -- grandchildren, Gerald “Buck” Wright IV, Ashley, Tiffany, Megan, Mary, Chelsea and Justina Wright, Chanda and Gabriel Scott and Laura Rittenhouse; two sisters, Donna Scott of Rossiter and Angel Anttill of Missouri.
Preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gerald Wright III, one brother, Ronald Scott and one sister, Kimmy Scott.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Wayne Taylor.
His ashes will be interred at Fairview Cemetery, Rossiter.
