Dennis Engle Obituary

Dennis Lee Engle, 74, of Reynoldsville, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Penn Highlands DuBois.

He was born in Erie on September 06, 1950, the son of the late Vernon Ray Engle and Jean Bernice (Overman) Engle.

Denny was a 1970 graduate of Jeff Tech.

He was the husband of Marietta Frances Kohler.  She preceded him in death on September 13,1999.

He worked as a mechanic for Penndot and on equipment at various strip jobs.  He may be remembered by some as the friendly face at YBC, Lezzer’s or Cramer Lumber.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 392 in Reynoldsville.

Woodworking was a hobby he loved, he also liked tinkering with and repairing lawn mowers.  He was a member of the Past to Present Machinery Association, PPMA Tractor club.  Each year he looked forward to attending the Farm Show in Harrisburg and any local tractor shows.  He met his long-time companion, Mary Ellen White while attending events.  For fourteen years, he and Mary Ellen enjoyed going to tractor shows, auctions and flea markets, where they always found a treasure and something good to eat.  Collecting International Harvester tractors brought him happiness.

Denny was a jokester and enjoyed teasing people to get a reaction, his humor and quick wit will be sadly missed.

In addition to Mary Ellen, he is survived by two daughters, Sabrina Deeter of York, PA and Valerie (Brian) Gaston of Punxsutawney; four grandchildren, Deven (Sara) Gaston, Caleb (Hailey) Gaston, Alex Lukens and Zane Deeter; three great grandchildren, Alynn, Amirah, and Jacob; one sister, Debbie (David) Freeman of Reynoldsville; two brothers, Douglas (Laurie) Engle of New Cumberland and Daniel (Peggy) Engle of Punxsutawney.

There will be no visitation.  Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.
