David John Weaver, 87, of Punxsutawney, passed away September 10, 2023, at McKinley Health Center, Brookville.
He was born on December 8, 1935, in Bell Township, the son of the late Silas Andrew Weaver and Sara (Pearce) Weaver.
Mr. Weaver served in the United States Army from 1958-1960.
From a young age, he attended Mt. Zion Lutheran Church which was near his family homestead on Airport Road.
He was married to Mary Ellen (Means-Cappella).
Dave will be remembered as a very knowledgeable, hard worker that had an exceptional work ethic. He had many business ventures over his lifetime which included Weaver’s Sanitation, Weaver’s Pool Service, hauling river gravel/shale, and Silas Development, specializing in demolition and excavation just to mention a few. He remained active in business until it was no longer physically possible.
Dave enjoyed going to auctions and looking at equipment, driving tractors and talking with his buddies. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his great granddaughter, Adrianna Means, he was a big, influential part of her life. The two of them had a special bond that will always remain.
David is survived by his two sons, Jeffery Weaver and his wife Pam and David A. Weaver; a great granddaughter, Adrianna Means, all of Punxsutawney; and two grandchildren: Tonya Lisbon and Justin Wolfersberger.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two brothers, Theodore and Robert Weaver; and two sisters: Annamae Hiles and Sally Collins; and a wife, Patricia Weaver.
Friends will be received from noon until 2 p.m., Monday, September 18, 2023, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be Mt. Zion Cemetery.
