Darrin Forest Shilling

Darrin Forest Shilling, 49, of Brookville, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born in Greenville, Mercer County on August 18, 1971, a son of the late William Earl Shilling and Mary Louise (Baker) Shilling.  His mother survives and resides in Venus, Pennsylvania.

On July 13, 2000, he married Crystal Marie Knecht.  She survives and resides in Brookville.  They were each other’s best friend and enjoyed spending time together doing anything and everything.

Darrin was a Licensed Practical Nurse.  Due to health reasons, he retired early and became a stay-at-home dad.  He was great husband and father and enjoyed taking care of many things for them each day. He loved his family dearly. It was so important for him to see his son Forest graduate, and he was able to do that.   His boys were his world and he wanted to be around as they grew up.  Darrin had a way of comforting other when they were down, he could simply cheer anyone up.

He and his wife Crystal “loved Junkin” and they enjoyed searching for old, oddities, collectible treasures to resell at their booth at Nomadic Trading. He loved the supernatural and Aliens.  Darrin was a blast to be around, all the fellow junkers enjoyed his humor, kindness and willingness to lend a hand.  His laughter and presence will be truly missed.

In addition to his wife Crystal and his mother Mary, he is survived by two children, Forest Waya Shilling and Austin James Shilling; one brother, Bruce Shilling of Venus; one sister, Sandra Kaltenbach of Tionesta.

There will be no viewing. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.  A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Doug Wolfe.
