Darlene Mae Parsell, 79, of Punxsutawney, passed away June 23, 2023 at Allegheny General Hospital.
She was born on March 4, 1944 in Mahaffey the daughter of the late Harvey Bouch and Emily (Strawcutter) Bouch-Lingenfelter.
Retired, Darlene was a certified peer specialist and formerly certified daycare provider. She ran her own daycare from 1997-2005. She went on to work for Cen-Clear Child Services.
Darlene loved spending time with her family, friends and peers. She was devoted to her community and enjoyed giving back to others. She enjoyed music, Nascar, crocheting and mowing the yard.
She was a lifelong member of the Historical and Genealogy Society of Punxsutawney.
She is survived by two sons, Randal Bouch and his wife Susan of Reynoldsville and Robert Parsell of Punxsutawney; six grandchildren: Krisy Stiver, Brittany Bouch, Stephen Bouch, Brandon Parsell, Travis Parsell and Jordan Parsell; three great grandchildren: Maddex Bouch, Cadnan Bouch and Titan Bouch; a sister, Beverly Killian of Punxsutawney.
In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her daughter, Tina Parsell; two brothers: Wilber Bouch and James Bouch; and two sisters, Deborah Vandervort and Judy Bowser.
The family will receive friends from 4-7pm on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. An additional hour of viewing will be held on 10am on Wednesday at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on June 28, 2023 at the funeral home with Pastor Marcus John officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill EUB Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society in care of the breast cancer department.
