Daniel Olen Brocious, 78, of Punxsutawney, passed away at home on Sunday, June 9, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born in Punxsutawney on May 12, 1946, a son of the late Wilmer Olen Brocious and Bonnie Jean (Geist) Brocious.
Dan was a 1964 graduate of the Punxsutawney Area High School.
He formerly worked at the Truck Stop of America in Brookville for thirty years.
His hobbies included hunting, Steelers football, and racing. He thoroughly enjoyed helping his good friend Howie Goss in the pits during his dirt track racing career. Watching old western movies was his favorite relaxing pastime.
He was an independent, quiet man who genuinely cared for others and would lend a hand to anyone in need.
Family was important to Dan, he leaves behind one son, Bradley (Amber) Brocious of Punxsutawney; two grandchildren that he was incredibly proud of, Dannika and Jett Brocious; one brother, Douglas (Jennifer) Brocious of Ringgold, four sisters, Sharon (Pete) Johnson of Girard, Kathy Miller of Erie, Cindy Brandt of Erie, and Carol (Denny) Adams of Dora; a faithful hunting partner and nephew, Jeff Miller; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; he also had a very loyal dog named Auggie that he dearly loved also.
Preceded in death by his parents and two brother in-law's, Paul “Butch” Miller and Tom Brandt.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Shumaker Funeral Home, inc., Punxsutawney. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Wayne Taylor.
Dan’s ashes will be interred at Dora Cemetery.
