Clair Edward Neal, 82, of Coolspring, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born at home in Sportsburg on May 09, 1938, a son of the late William H. and Sara (Weaver) Neal.
On August 31, 1960 he married Katherine Elizabeth Pearce. They enjoyed fifty-eight years of marriage prior to her death on April 13, 2018.
Mr. Neal worked at Speer Carbon in Elk Run for fifty years. He was very dedicated to his work at the plant. He started at the bottom and worked in every aspect of the business, finishing out his fifty years as a maintenance man.
Farming was his hobby, he loved the taking care of his farm and collecting antique horse drawn sleighs, buggy’s and equipment.
He was very generous man, he was happy to help another person with anything they needed.
His Sunday mornings always consisted of Polka music for as long as his children can remember.
He is survived by two sons, Perry Neal and wife Georgetta of Punxsutawney, Todd Neal and wife Kelly of Waynesboro; five grandchildren, Latasha Neal and Tyler Mason, Shannen Bigelow and Kyle, Katelin Neal, Ty Neal and Faith Neal; three great grandchildren, Rosie Mason, Shelby Neal and Colt Bigelow; one brother, Donald Neal and wife Fannie of Sportsburg, and one sister, Lois Guilfoyle of Punxsutawney.
Preceded in death by his wife, infant daughter Sara Neal; three brothers, Paul, Ronald and Robert Neal; two sisters, Betty Neal and Emmie Prokay.
Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, officiated by Clair’s dear friend Paul Zorg.
Interment will follow at Mahoning Union Cemetery, Marchand.
