Clair Newcome Keller, 94, of Reynoldsville, passed away peacefully at Penn Highlands DuBois on Saturday, July 15, 2023, to be reunited with his beloved wife Evelyn.
He was born in Gaskill Township, Jefferson County on February 02, 1929, a son of the late Samuel Tilton Keller and Elmira Loretta (Muth) Keller.
On December 11, 1949, he married the love of his life, Evelyn Genevieve Muth. They enjoyed nearly seventy-three years of marriage prior to her death on October 2, 2022.
Clair was a lifetime member of the Paradise United Church of Christ.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Benjamin Coal, DuBrook and Small and Sander. Clair worked and played hard but was truly a gentle sweet man adored by many.
He was a member of Muth’s Camp and loved spending time with his family and friends.
His enjoyments were hunting and fishing throughout his life, he was even able to turkey hunt alone this past spring. He planted a yearly garden, his labor of love will be bountiful for his family again this summer. Over the years, he loved to pick berries for his wife to make him a delicious treat.
He is survived by his two daughters, Diane (Floyd) Askey of Brockway and Denise (Bryan) Neal of Brookville; three grandchildren, Craig (Danielle) Askey, Todd (Ann) Neal and Toby (Cherise) Neal; six great grandchildren, Alexis, Dylan, Kennedy, Gage, Madison and Aubrey.
Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney and from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Paradise United Church of Christ.
A funeral service will be held at the church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, officiated by Pastor Barry Fillman.
Interment will follow at Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Clair’s memory to Paradise United Church of Christ.
