Charles Leroy “Chuck” Anderson, 81, of Punxsutawney, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at his home.
He was born on January 21, 1941 in Punxsutawney the son of the late Lee Anderson and Catherine (Emerick) Anderson.
Chuck graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School and went on to receive his teaching certificate from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
He retired as a math teacher from Seneca Valley High School after 35 years, during his career as a teacher he was nominated “Teacher of the Year”.
Chuck also served his country in the Army Reserves, he retired after 30 years of service as a Lieutenant Colonel.
He was a member of the Frostburg Hopewell Methodist Church and of the Pennsylvania State Education Association. He enjoyed going on hunting trips across the country for a variety of big game animals.
Chuck is survived by his two siblings: Gary Anderson and his wife Patty of Punxsutawney, and Esther Marks and her husband Art of Buffalo, NY; four nieces and nephews: Dr. Brian Marks and his wife Alissa of New Hampshire, Allison Marks of New Hampshire, Dr. Renee Anderson and her husband Dr. Gary LaNoce of Conshohocken, PA, and Jody Wilson and her husband Justin of Lutz, Fl; four great nieces and nephews: Hazel and Wyatt Marks, and Elizabeth and Charlotte LaNoce.
At the wishes of the family all services for Chuck will be private. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
