Catherine "Dot" Dorothy Hanley

Catherine Dorothy “Dot” Hanley, 90, of Punxsutawney, passed away at home on Monday, July 18, 2022.

She was born in Rossiter on November 16, 1931, a daughter of the late Joseph( Pisarcik and Helen (Benko)  Pisarcik.

On June 16, 1956, she married Paul O. “Pat” Hanley.  They enjoyed nearly sixty-six years of marriage.  Pat preceded her in death on May 21, 2022.

She is a member of the Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church.

Dot worked at Loree Footwear and Rola Jensen.

She was a hard-working woman that never stopped moving until the day was over.  She always took care of others, particularly her husband Pat.  She loved baking, cooking and was known for her nutroll, apple pies, zuchhini pie and beets.  Her one hobby was playing the Lottery daily.  She also enjoyed listening to Polka music.

She is survived by four sons, David Hanley, Joseph Hanley and wife Pam, Paul Hanley, and John Hanley, all of Punxsutawney; eight grandchildren, Kayla Hanley, Misty Coble and husband Jeremy, Mason Hanley and wife Kara, Greg Huey and Marci, Kelly Huey, Mack Hanley, Maeve Hanley, and Shane Hanley and wife Brandy; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Josephine Miller and husband Rowland.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband “Pat”, two brothers, Joseph and Paul Pisarcik; six sisters, Helen Koczwara, Margaret Rypczyk, Sophie Grazulis, Elizabeth Necastro, Mary Pisarcik and infant sister, Helen Pisarcik.

Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church.

Interment will follow at Hanley Family Cemetery on Benson Road, Young Township.

Memorial donations may be made in Dot’s memory to the VNA Hospice of Indiana, Gateway Humane Society or the Rossiter American Legion.
