Carol Ann Rentko, 78, formerly of Hazleton, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Mulberry Square Eldercare.
She was born in Hazleton on February 20, 1947, a daughter of late August (Camodeca) Kender and Mary (Gadola) Kender.
On June 12, 1970, she married Paul Frank Rentko. He preceded her in death on July 25, 2002.
Carol was a deeply caring and devoted mother who poured endless love into raising her children, her nurturing spirit extended even more brightly to her grandchildren whom she adored. Through every season of her life, her values and unconditional love were the foundations upon which her family thrived.
She worked as cook at the Kopper Kettle for twenty years and later at a personal care home for many years, she took pride in her work, it was filled with love and care and a personal touch that reminded many residents of home. But beyond the kitchen, Carol had another gift to share: her voice. She loved to sing to the residents with familiar tunes and old favorites which brought back memories for many.
In her free time, she enjoyed making ceramics.
She is survived by two sons, Paul F. (Tomica Marie) Rentko of Sweet Home, Oregon and Michael (Mindy) Rentko of Punxsutawney; six grandchildren, Zackary, Isaac, Vanessa, Michaela, Jack, and Kendall Rentko; one brother, August Kender of Tresckow, PA.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul and one sister, Marie Minneci.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no viewing.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at noon, officiated by Pastor Bob Vandervort at Shumaker Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
