Carl Vaneman Obituary

Carl Robert Vaneman, 86, of Coolspring passed away on May 25, 2026 at Jefferson Manor in Brookville. 

He was born on June 5, 1939, a son of the late David and Sarah (Edwards) Vaneman.

Carl faithfully served his country for several years in the United States Navy. 

On August 31, 1990 he married his sweetheart and best friend Judy (Mumford) Vaneman, who survives. They enjoyed over 35 years of marriage. 

Mr. Vaneman was a proud member of the Pennsylvania State Police, retiring after many years of dedicated service. 

He was a member of the Anita Assembly of God.

Carl was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and an active member of the Jefferson County Fair Board. His giving nature and hardworking spirit shone through in the many ways he helped with the fair each year, never hesitating to volunteer his time wherever it was needed. 

After retirement, he enjoyed caring for the farm he shared with his wife, Judy. Together they devoted countless hours to tending to their many animals, and taking pride in the life they built together. 

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, David and Sarah Vaneman. 

He is survived by loving wife; Judy Vaneman,son; Christopher Vaneman of Florida, 5 grandchildren, brother; Mark Vaneman, of New Castle,and  sister; Nancy Baker, of New Castle. 

Interment will take place at Coolspring Cemetery.

Arrangements are private, and are entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
