Carl Petroff

Carl E. Petroff, 89 of Punxsy passed away on Oct. 25, 2024.  He was born on June 10 1935, in Punxsy. The youngest and last surviving child of the Michael & Julia (Jurcenko) Petroff family of New York Ave.

Mr. Petroff worked as a full time custodian for many years, for the Punxsy Area High School. Carl also worked for the 7-up company in his younger years. He worked for Sportswear also, where he met the love of his life, Ruth (Jordon) Petroff whom he married on Oct. 15, 1971. She passed away on Oct. 23, 2015. Carl was a devoted Catholic. He was a member of SSCD Church. He was an active member of the Punxsutawney Eagles.  Carl was an avid golfer. He coached baseball Minor Little League and coached SSCD basketball. He loved sports of all kinds.Carl will be remembered for his beautiful warm smile. He had a meek, gentle & Humble personality.

He is survived by his daughter, Kristina Petroff of Punxsy, Dan(Holly Ganos) Petroff of Indiana, PA .  Grandson Brandon & Nichole Bish of Imperial, PA.   Alec Petroff of Pittsburgh, PA and Adriana Petroff of Indiana, and numerous nieces & Nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife Carl is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Mary Kopas, Helen Kachur, John Petroff, Julia Gigliotti, George Petroff, Marge Havrilla, Andrew Petroff,Patty Gloss, Michael Petroff, & Robert Petroff.

 Friends will be received from 5-7 pm on Sunday, October 26, 2024, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney, and from 9 am until 10:30 on Monday.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 am Monday at Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church, celebrated by Monsignor Father Riccardo.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
