Beulah Georgina Reed

Beulah Georgina (Keller) Reed, who would have been celebrating her 98th birthday next week, died peacefully at her home in Paradise, Henderson Township, near Reynoldsville, PA. on Friday morning, June 24, 2021.  Beulah was born on June 29, 1923, to the late Samuel and Elmira (Muth) Keller in Gaskill Township, Jefferson County, PA. She attended Big Run High School. As a young woman, she worked at Cameron Manufacturing in Emporium, assembling defense products for the World War II effort. A few years ago, she got a chance to go back there, see the now inoperative plant where she had worked with so many other young women at that time and tour a local museum there that had a history of the products displayed from that time period. On September 16, 1944, she married Dorsey Eugene Reed and moved to Henderson Township, where she remained until recently.  Her husband, Dorsey, preceded her in death, November 29th, 1981. For several years, she worked as a seamstress at The Standard Pennant Company in Big Run. Beulah was a member of the Paradise United Church of Christ.  She participated in the choir for many years up until a few years ago. Beulah enjoyed planting flower gardens. And, for a great many number of years, enjoyed a full garden, canning lots of vegetables that she would grow each summer.  She loved to be with friends and family.  She was very friendly and found it easy to make friends with everyone.  She always looked forward to family gatherings.  Beulah is survived by one daughter: Donna (Reed) Chollock and her husband, Ron, of DuBois, PA and one granddaughter, Ronda Chollock, of Charlottesville, Virginia. She is also survived by one sister, Shirley (Keller) Welsh and one brother-in-law, Donald Welsh and one brother, Clair Keller and his wife Evelyn (Sis), and many friends and beloved nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.  Beulah was preceded in death by her parents and husband, two sisters; Viola Bowers and Catherine Brooks, and three brothers, Carl, Merle, and Paul Keller.

Family and Friends will be received on Sunday, June 27th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Shumaker Funeral Home in Big Run, PA.  A funeral service will take place on Monday at 11 a.m.at Paradise United Church of Christ with Pastor Barry Fillman emeritus officiating.

Interment will follow at Paradise United Church of Christ Cemetery.
