Anne Averil Daugherty, 84, of Reynoldsville, passed away January 12, 2023 at DuBois Nursing Home.
She was born on August 10, 1938, in Henderson Township, the daughter of the late Wade Daniel Peace and Jessie Averil (Cramer) Peace. On September 22, 1962 she married David Eugene Daugherty, who preceded her in death on October 2, 2010.
Anne worked for forty years at Standard Pennant. She was a member of Paradise United Church of Christ and a former member of the Henderson Grange.
Anne and her husband enjoyed square dancing together, and had won second place at competition at the Jefferson County Square Dance Club. She also helped her husband at the Jefferson County Fair when he was a vendor selling miniature farm toys. Anne enjoyed making jams and jellies and selling them at the local farmers market over the years.
Her hobbies included baking, canning, gardening, sewing, crafting, reading, crossword puzzles and putting puzzles together. But above all, she loved to spend her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Anne is survived by het three children: Betsy J. Peffer and her husband Lester of Marchand, Michael David Daugherty of Reynoldsville and Judith Huey and her husband Scott of Reynoldsville; three grandchildren: Nickolas Strawcutter and his wife Brittany, Reece Peffer and his fiancé Allison Pearce and Victoria Peffer; four great grandchildren: Kylee, Landon, Gage and Haley Strawcutter; two sisters: Ruth Wright of Staples, MN and Sharon Bennett and her husband Mike of Reynoldsville; and a brother, Paul Peace of Punxsutawney.
In addition to her parents and husband, Anne was preceded in death by three siblings: John Peace, Allen Peace and Cora May Kuntz.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 16, 2023, from 4-8pm at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. Big Run. An additional hour of viewing will be held on Tuesday from 10am until the hour or services at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, January 17 at 11am at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. Big Run with pastor Barry Fillman officiating. Burial will be in St. Johns Windy Hill Cemetery.
