Anna Belle Mahan, 87, of Punxsutawney, passed on Monday, November 18, 2024, at home with her loving husband by her side.
She was born in Punxsutawney on August 4, 1937, a daughter of the late Paul H. Burkett and Marcella (Snyder) Burkett.
On December 20, 1957, she married her sweetheart, James Merle Mahan. Together they enjoyed sixty-seven years of companionship and raised a wonderful family.
Anna Belle was a devoted wife, loving mother and a cherished friend. She dedicated her life to creating a warm and welcoming home. As a homemaker, she poured her love into everything she did – whether it was preparing delicious meals, trying out new recipes or sharing her talent for crafts that brought joy to everyone. Family trips to Myrtle beach were her favorite getaway, it brought her peace and was a reminder of the simple joys she cherished in life.
In addition to her husband James, she is survived by two children, Cathy (Robert) Scott of DuBois and Chris (Christine) Mahan of Punxsutawney; two grandchildren, Danica Mahan of New Hampshire and Devin Mahan of Florida; five step grandchildren, one great grandchild, Rio Gilbert and five step great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, one son, Michael Mahan and her sister, Erma Burkett.
Friends will be received from 5 -8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, and from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of service at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Rob Van Fossen.
Interment will follow at Burkett Hollow Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Anna Belle’s memory to the Church of God.
