Alyssa Michelle Mohney

Alyssa Michelle Mohney, 18, of Punxsutawney, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 3, 2021.

She was born a healthy little baby girl, in Punxsutawney on November 01, 2002, a daughter of Scott Allen Mohney and Carey Ann (Kaylor) Mohney.

Alyssa and her family bravely battled Batten Disease and cared for her at home for nearly fifteen years.  She was a tough, strong-willed fighter that endured so much in her life, she will be remembered as her parents “little angel”.  Alyssa loved to watch Shrek and Sponge Bob Square Pants.  She had the opportunity to see Shrek in a trip to Disney World through Make A Wish Foundation.  Her eyes lit up when she saw Shrek next to her daddy.

She was kind and loving and her presence will be dearly missed by her family.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one sister, Christa Mohney of Punxsutawney; paternal grandfather, Ernest Mohney of Rossiter; maternal grandparents, Walt and Diane Kaylor of Punxsutawney.

Friends will be received from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m., officiated by Pastor Don Brauer.

She will be interred at Pearce Cemetery at a later date.
