Virginia Rose Schepis, 85, formerly of Punxsutawney, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Rustic Manor Personal Care in Clymer.

She was born on December 11, 1931 in Indiana, PA, a daughter of the late Homer C. and Helen M. (Hurd) Tyger.

On August 31, 1962 she became the wife of Nicholas Francis Schepis.  After nearly fifty one years of marriage, he preceded her in death on August 21, 2013.

Mrs. Schepis was a member of the Church of God, where she was a former Sunday School teacher.

Ginny enjoyed raising her family and being a homemaker, she particularly enjoyed helping care for her grandchildren over the years.  Her involvement with raising her children, lead her to volunteering as President of Longview PTA, as well as a Boy Scout Leader.

She was a selfless woman that lived her life for everyone else, with little concern for herself.   Through her love for others, she touched many hearts and lives, to include family members, friends and acquaintances, even a stranger she may have just met.  Ginny could start a conversation with anyone by her genuine smile, her kind demeanor, sense of humor, and tender words of comfort.  She will be sadly missed by so many.

Survived by four children, Edward Shiner and wife Candace of Greensburg, Steven J. Schepis of Greensburg, David Schepis of Punxsutawney, and Stacey Stankewich of Punxsutawney; three grandchildren, Joshua Stankewich and fiancé Jenna Palmer, Lauren Westover and husband Craig, and Melissa Reed; one great grandchild, Aria Westover; two sisters, Patty Habeeb of Corpus Christi, TX, and Mary Ella Robertson of Kansas; a special niece, Peg Gulas of Indiana.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband Nicholas, two sons, Hank Shiner and Mark Schepis; one grandson, Ryan Stankewich; three brothers, Louis Tyger, DeLoss "Doc" Tyger and Thomas Tyger.

Friends will be received from 12-3 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Shumaker Funeral Home, inc., Punxsutawney.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Lori Parks.

Her ashes will be interred immediately following the service at Pine Grove Cemetery, Rochester Mills.
