Ronald Arthur Frederick

Ronald Arthur Frederick, 61, of Burke, VA, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, VA.  Ronald was born in Punxsutawney on January 16, 1956 to the late James A. Frederick and Mary E. Fye.  He married his wife Grace on August 22, 1981.  Grace survives and resides in Burke, VA.

Ron was a 1973 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High and was active in the high school band.  Following high school, he attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) graduating in 1977 with his Bachelor's Degree.  He was also a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity at IUP.  Ron later attended the University of Pittsburgh where he earned his Masters in Business Administration in 1985.  Ron was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and an IT professional.  He worked for various firms during his working career before retiring from Fannie Mae shortly before his death.   Ron enjoyed brewing craft beer and was a proud member of the Worthogs Brew Club.

   Ron was very close to his family; particularly, his identical twin brother, Donald who survives and is also a CPA and resides in Virginia Beach, VA.  The twin brothers were very close and cherished sharing time together as much as possible. Ronald had a zest for life, enjoyed the company of family and was an integral part of the family’s annual ski outing.  He leaves a hole in the lives of those who knew and loved him. 

In addition to his wife, Grace, Ron is survived by his son, US Army Capt. Daniel Frederick of Tacoma, WA; his beloved twin Brother, Donald J. Frederick and wife Linda of Virginia Beach, VA; three other brothers, Kenneth J. Frederick and wife Kathleen of Monaca, PA; John M. Frederick and wife Carrie of DuBois, PA; and Charles Fanus of Pittsburgh, PA.  He is also survived by his sister, Kimberly Barrett of Punxsutawney, PA.  His surviving nieces and nephews are Jill Biskup and husband Eric of Aliquippa, PA; Autumn Frederick and fiance’ Jemonte  of Virginia Beach, VA; Jonathan Frederick and wife Jocelyn of Clinton, PA; Lindsay Ann Frederick of Virginia Beach, VA; Jeremy Frederick and wife Christie of Aliquippa, PA;  Jacob Fanus of Punxsutawney, PA; and 7 great nieces and nephews.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Frederick and Mary E. Fye.

Friends will be received on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 12 - 4 p.m. at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc of Punxsutawney.  A funeral service will be held immediately afterwards at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Bockus officiating.
