Richard Walter Truance, 89, of Punxsutawney passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Mulberry Square.
He was born on June 12, 1929 in Port Chester, New York, a son of the late Dominic and Ellen (Johnson) Truance.
Mr. Truance was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
On April 11, 1953 he married the former Clara Ann “Dutch” Barencik. She preceded him in death in 1992.
Richard worked for Chessie, B&O and CSX Railroad System, as a Brakeman. He worked from 1966 to 1991 at which time he retired.
He was a member of the Rossiter American Legion Post #582, Punxsutawney Eagles, and the Polka Club.
Survived by two children, Richard Paul Truance and wife Rose of Rossiter, and Dee Dee Raybuck and husband Keith of Silver Springs, Nevada; three grandchildren, Jacque McVitty and husband Patrick, Lisa Ishman and husband Eric, Shai Raybuck and fiancé Jennifer Cowfer; three great grandchildren, Alaina Ishman, Aiden Ishman and Mara McVitty.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife “Dutch”, and sister, Virginia Luketich.
Friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Doug Wolfe. Military honors will be accorded by the Rossiter American Legion.
Interment will be at the Church of the Resurrection Cemetery in Rossiter.
Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Truance’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
