Mary Louise “Mary Lou” Balutis, 88, of Brockway passed to her eternal home on Sunday, September 9, 2018.
She was born on October 11, 1929 in Brockway, a daughter of the late Charles Edward and Mary Martha (Zobrist) Bilquist.
On February 16, 1962 she married Bernard D. Balutis. He preceded her in death on November 29, 2001.
Mary Lou skipped second grade and graduated at the age of sixteen from Brockway Area High School, where she was proud to have been a cheerleader.
She went on to work for Brockway Glass as an executive secretary for eighteen years.
Mary Lou made her home in Florida with her husband Bernie for many years before returning to Brockway.
In addition to her husband, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, brothes Charles Ray and Robert Edward Bilquist, sisters Evelyn Kathryn Bilquist, Martha Christine Cretti, and Edna May Johnson.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Mary Lou’s wishes, there will be no viewing. Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Interment will be at Morningside Cemetery, DuBois.
