Martha Jane Villella

Martha Jane Villella, 81, of Punxsutawney, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, August 23, 2018.

She was born on February 22, 1937 in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Edith Fye and stepfather Charles Fye, granddaughter of Charles and Nancy Wood.

On January 14, 1961 she married the love of her life, Vincent James Villella.  Together they shared over fifty-seven years of marriage.

Mrs. Villella owned and operated Villella’s Personal Care Home.  She was a very caring and loving about her residents over the years.

Martha was her happiest when she was doing for others, she loved cooking and baking for her family, especially holiday meals.  She loved working at the Villella Sausage Stand.  After retirement she enjoyed traveling, shopping and knitting.

In addition to her husband Vinnie, she is survived by four children, Mark Villella of Atlanta, Georgi, Patrick Villella and wife Sally of Punxsutawney, Dennis Villella of Walston and Dana Villella and wife Katie of Atlanta, Georgia; two grandchildren, Vincent and Madelyn Villella; four sisters, Beverly Fye of Punxsutawney, Bernice Wright and husband Jerry of Coolspring, Brenda Bofinger and husband Dave of Punxsutawney, and Barbara Fye of Punxsutawney; three brothers, Dave Fye and wife Louise of Cloe, Rick Fye and wife Zana of Punxsutawney, and Joe Fye and wife Paula of Cloe; sister in-laws, Katherine Hodgson of Akron, OH and Marcella Hodgson of Punxsutawney;and brother in-law, Anthony Stello of Punxsutawney.

Preceded in death by her mother, sister, Nancy Stello, two brothers, Jim and Terry Hodgson.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church, celebrated by Monsignor Joseph Riccardo.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.

Memorial donations may be made in Martha’s memory to the Alzheimers Foundation.
