 Marilyn Lowry, 80, of Punxsutawney, passed away quietly on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 with her family.

She was born on July 3, 1937 in Mahaffey to William Robert and Thelma (Neff) Hall.

On September 28, 1957 she married William Mack Lowry.  He preceded her in death on February 28, 1983.

Marilyn was a member of the Woodland Ave Methodist Church.

Marilyn graduated from Mahaffey High School in 1955, the last graduating class at Mahaffey High School.

 During her lifetime, Marilyn worked as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone, a cashier at Riverside Market and Grants Department Store.  She also worked with her mother inlaw at L & H as an upholsterer for furniture. 

She was a tremendous mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family more than anything in the world, and she enjoyed their company.   Her hobbies included watching sports, especially, Penn State Football, the Steelers, and Tiger Woods golfing.

  She will be sorely missed by all who knew her and loved her.

Marilyn is survived by three of her four children, all of whom reside in Punxsutawney; Daniel A. Lowry and his wife Janie; Douglas M. Lowry and his wife Penny; and, Cheryl Shaffer and her husband Tom; seven grandchildren, Danny Lowry and his fiancé Sapphire Defelice; Derik Lowry and his wife Shae; Kyle Lowry and Kaysi Hill; Krista Lowry; Amy Adams and Zack Hill; Amanda Kurtz and her husband Adam, and Tania Shaffer;  five great-grandchildren, Mack Lowry; Kaitlyn and Kellan Cessna; Jameson Hill, and Aiden Kurtz.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, William, Marilyn was preceded in death by her son, Denny S. Lowry, and her brother Harrie Hall.

Friends will be received on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 2 -4 and 6 -8 p.m. at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home  at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017.

Marilyn will be interred at Circle Hill Cemetery in Punxsutawney.

Memorial donations may be made in Marilyn's memory to St Judes Children's Research Hospital.
