Krista Marie Reitz

Krista Marie Reitz, 11, of Punxsutawney, was granted her angel wings as her young life was cut short tragically and suddenly in a Marchand house fire on Sunday, December 30, 2018.  God’s beautiful angel was born on August 08, 2007 in Punxsutawney, a daughter of Christopher Lee Reitz and Cindie Ann (Colgan) Reitz.

Krista was an active and vivacious fifth grader at the Punxsutawney Area Elementary School who just loved going to school and being with her many friends and teachers.  Like most children her age, Krista enjoyed Smores and playing with her siblings and friends, particularly when it came to the challenge of taking skillful aim at her opponents with laser tag and nerf darts.  Krista also had many talents and interests.  She was a member of the Punxsy Area Community Center Gymnastics Club; she loved camping with her family; and, was equally astute as she was busy when it came to animals.   She rode horses with the Trailblazer’s Saddle Club and was a member of Gateway 4-H Horse Program where she proudly showed her horse and her equestrian skills across the state of Pennsylvania, winning many awards.  Her gift and love for animals were not only limited to horses, but to a variety of other barnyard companions that she raised and displayed at the Jefferson County Fair and various other venues. Krista was a very happy and active little girl who always smiled and was content just spending time with her family, friends, and the many four-legged creatures she called her friends as well. Although Krista is no longer with us in this world, her beautiful smile and gentle spirit will live on for eternity in the hearts of the many who knew and loved her.

Survived by her mother, Cindie Ann Colgan and Robert Brown of Punxsutawney, her father, Christopher Lee Reitz and wife Brandy of Rochester Mills, three sisters, Calista Ann Reitz of Punxsutawney, Alexis Conner of Marion Center and Leah Herman of Rochester Mills, and one brother, Hunter Thomas Brown of Punxsutawney; Maternal grandmother, Donna Ferguson of Punxsutawney, Maternal Great grandmother, Diane Smouse of Punxsutawney; Aunts, Susan Breth and husband Danny, Sherri Spicher and husband Marty, Jessica Colgan and Greg Zeok, Lisa Fedder and Dawnelda Colgan; Uncles, Adam Reitz and wife Marci, Sam Reitz, Brian Colgan; Cousins, Joey McKenrick, Amberly Spicher, Reece Spicher, Colby and Keilei Reitz, Stacey Reitz, Mary Reitz and Darla Conners.

Preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Barbara Ann Reitz, and maternal great grandfather, Donald Smouse.

Friends will be received from 2-5 Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the Cloe United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church officiated by Pastor Chuck Prevot.
