I met Joan in 1996 and we became good friends. We had regular lunches and dinners, and enjoyed talking about Spikey (her little Westie) and her Mom up in Punxatawney. She always looked forward to moving in with her Mom at the family farm, and it breaks my heart to discover that she is no longer with us. We had been out of touch for the past year or so, and I regret now that I was not able to tell her how much I cherished our friendship. May fond memories comfort her Mother during this sad time of grief.
