Irene E. Carcella, 91, of Punxsutawney went to be her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 22, 2018.
She was born on April 11, 1927, in Gaskill Township, Jefferson County, a daughter of the late Evan Oakley and Laura (Conrad) Stiver.
On September 17, 1955 she married the love of her life, John Louis Carcella. He preceded her in death on November 22, 2017.
Together with her husband, she owned and operated Suburban Auto Glass for many years.
Irene was a gentle loving soul that spoke softly and loved deeply. She cared for everyone that was part of her life.
Her greatest joy was birdwatching and feeding her “little” feathered friends, especially her Cardinals.
Irene also enjoyed hunting, fishing and Television shows.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Eric Toy and fiancé Jessie Bowser of Punxsutawney, and Cheryl Gemmell and husband Eric of Carlisle; two great grandchildren, Andrea and John Gemmell; two sisters, Mary Couch of Punxsutawney, and Dorothy Keslar, New Kensington, several nieces and nephews
Preceded in death by her parents and only daughter, Gloria Toy, two sisters Helen Himes and Edna Muth.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Randy Evans, Pastor of Caring and Connecting at One Life Church.
Interment will follow at Bowers Cemetery, Gaskill Township.
