Elmer Leslie Hyde, Sr., 83, of Reynoldsville, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 at DuBois Nursing Home.
He was born on August 01, 1934 in Morristown, New York, a son of the late Harold and Josephine (Corrice) Hyde.
Mr. Hyde was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.
He married the former Mary Ellen Manson. They spent many years together and raised five children, the two remained friends throughout their lives.
Elmer worked painting houses and barns in his younger years, worked in the Talc mines and later on the drilling rigs.
He loved to be able to help his children with anything they needed, he also loved to share the stories of his life experiences every chance he had with them. He lived his life to the fullest.
His hobbies were being outdoors and going hunting.
He is survived by three children, Elmer L. Hyde, Jr. and wife Linda of Mifflinburg, James Scott Hyde and wife Valerie of Reynoldsville, and Christy Hyde of Sykesville; twelve grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren; one brother, Jim Hyde and wife Sandra of Hammond, NY, four sisters, Ann Marie Hernandez of TX, Linda Bogart and husband Sonny of Ogdensburg, NY, Judy Bogart and husband Mike of Morristown, NY, and Patsy Thievridge of Hammond, NY.
Preceded in death by two daughters, Robbin London and Amy Hyde, one grandson, Shon Hyde; two brothers, Murtton and Gary Hyde.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018 at McClure Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded. Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.
His ashes will be interred at McClure Cemetery, Big Run.
