Donald Lee Hoffman

Donald Lee Hoffman, 76, of Conneaut, Ohio, formerly of Coolspring, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 2, 2018.

He was born on July 20, 1941 in Brookville, a son of the late Melvin and Esther (Swineford) Hoffman. 

Mr. Hoffman served in the United States Navy.

On October 21, 1970 he married the former Donna Jean Shaffer.  She survives and resides in Conneaut, Ohio.

Don was a self-employed contractor, known as Donlee Construction since 1978.  He was a talented carpenter that worked for and with many people over the years.

His passion was fishing and boating.  He was able to enjoy the last year and a half of his life boating every chance he got.  He was a member of the Lake Erie Boat Club.

Family was very important to him, he was a really good husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  His love of family extended beyond just his immediate family, he considered his friends and neighbors as family as well.

In addition to his wife Donna, he is survived by five children, Shelley Altizer and husband Michael of Wilson, NY, Sherry Mueller of Cape Coral, FL, Shannon Hoffman and wife Dana of Coolspring, Jon Hoffman and Molly Hollis of Frostburg, and Donnell Hoffman of Cape Coral, FL; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren on the way; two brothers, Larry Hoffman and wife Barbara of North Tonawanda, NY, and Craig Hoffman of Clarion; three sisters, Lavonne Caylor and husband Lee of Coolspring, Jan Smith and husband Reed of North Tonawanda, NY and Debra Compton of Punxsutawney.

Preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Lana Yenzi, and brother Robert Hoffman.

Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Gordon “Chopper” Snyder.

A graveside service will follow at Coolspring Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
