Dolores Thelma Rowan

Dolores Thelma Rowan, 94, of DuBois, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

She was born in Rossiter, on December 21, 1924, a daughter of the late John and Edith (Oaks) Woods.

On November 06, 1946, she married Thomas Anthony Rowan.  He preceded her in death in 1988.

Dolores worked at Sylvania in Brookville.  She also worked at Curtis Wright, as a welder on the inside nose of a plane during World War II.  She later became a great homemaker that was a wonderful baker and made delicious candy.

Her enjoyments were being involved with the Boy scouts when her children were young, she also enjoyed crocheting and reading.

Her family referred to her as “something special” she was a good mother and a great person that lived her life well.

She is survived by three children, Georgine Sweitzer, Kathy Catrabone and John A. Rowan, all of DuBois; four grandchildren, Sonya Janson and husband Andrew, Joshua W. Sweitzer, James Catrabone and wife Diane and Nicholas Catrabone; six great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren; one brother, Arthur Woods of Rossiter and Helen Yeager of Indiana.

Preceded in death by two sons, David and Daniel Rowan; sisters, Erma Astorino and Ruth Carnahan; three brothers, Clayton, Delmont and John Woods; two granddaughters, Tina Burkett and Lena Rowan; one great grandson, Terry Burkett.

Friends will be received from 11 – 2 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Paul Charles.

Interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Brookville.
