Margaret Shaffer

Margaret Shaffer, 88, of Punxsutawney, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

She was born on November 30, 1928 in Rossiter a daughter of the late Alexander and Julia (Dividock) Roy.

She was the wife of Thomas A Shaffer.  He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Shaffer was a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church.

She enjoyed playing Bingo, watching Jeopardy, golf games and Wheel of Fortune.

Survived by six children, four sons, Doug Shaffer, Thomas Shaffer and wife Cheryl, Greg Shaffer, all of Punxsutawney, and Bryan Shaffer of Clearfield; two daughters, Laura German of California, and Debra Byerly of Punxsutawney; eight grandchildren, Karly, Alexa and Tania Shaffer, Tahawna Byerly, Courtney Cox and husband Evan, Jennifer Byerly, Thomas Byerly and Suzanne Johnson; one great grandchild, Zoey Smith; two brothers, Albert and George Roy; four sisters, Dorothy Freno of OH, Sophie Hamlin of MA, Dolores Urchuck of Anita, and Pauline McDaniels of Trade City.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Dennis Randall Shaffer; four brothers, Paul, Alexander, Frank and John Roy.

Arrangements are private and under the direction of Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
