Leslie Lynn Wineberg, 60, of Punxsutawney  passed away peacefully following a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, August 3, 2017, surrounded by her dear and loving family when she went home to be with the Lord.  Leslie was born in Youngstown, OH on April 8, 1957 to the late Nelson Dale and Tricia LuAnne (Wayland) Martin.  Leslie's mother, Tricia, survives and resides in Punxsutawney.   Leslie married the love of her life and soul-mate, Dennis Paul Wineberg on September 28, 1974,  Dennis survives and also resides in Punxsutawney.

Leslie was a remarkable woman who, without exception, viewed life with optimism, hope, and was endlessly inspiring to those around her.  Despite her illness, she never felt sorry for herself and always graced everyone with her gracious personality and incredible smile.   She was a dedicated and passionate member of the First United Methodist Church of Punxsutawney and was extremely active as a Lay-Leader working tirelessly for the Lord.  Although involved in a litany of both church and community activities, she especially loved narrating for cantatas and leading the children's choir.  Only second to her faith and love for God, was her dear and loving family.  Leslie's family was everything to her.  She was without doubt, the world's best wife, daughter, mother, and grandmother and sister.  Leslie worked at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital for 26 years and enjoyed her work, and the people she worked with  to the fullest.  She loved people and was the type of person who made friends with anyone.  Leslie will perhaps always be remembered for her courage, her faith in God, and her tremendous smile and infectious personality.  She was truly an inspiration who made the best of every moment.

In addition to her mother, Tricia, and her loving husband Dennis of nearly 43 years,  Leslie is survived by her son, Jason Scott Wineberg and wife Branda of Fayetteville, NC; her daughter, Robyn Michele Wineberg of Denver, CO; her brother Nelson Martin and wife Donna of Edmund, OK; her sisters, Kelly Reitz and husband Dan of Punxsutawney and Kim Brady and husband Tim of Smicksburg.  Leslie is also survived by her four beautiful grandchildren, Bailey, Aubrey, and Nicholas Wineberg, and Quinn Mace.

Leslie was preceded in death by her father, Nelson Dale Martin.

Friends will be received at the First United Methodist Church in Punxsutawney from 3 - 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2017.  A funeral service will be held at the church on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Paul Ritchey officiating.   Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. of Punxsutawney.
