James Paul Stevenson, 50 of Johnstown, formerly of Punxsutawney, passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 7, 2018 in Johnstown.

James was born in Kittanning on January 2, 1968 to the late James Eugene and Joanne E. (St. Jean) Stevenson of Punxsutawney.

His family just hosted a belated surprise birthday celebration for him yesterday at Hoss's, where many laughs were shared and cherished memories where made.

Jim married Pamela Sue Schreckengost on April 28, 2006.  Pamela survives and resides in Johnstown.

James worked for Frank Roberts as a laborer and truck driver for over 12 years before moving to Johnstown in 2016.  He previously liked to hunt and fish. Jim was a very likable man who made friends easily.  As such, he enjoyed the company of his friends and tried to see as often as possible.  He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, especially the grandchildren.   

In addition to his his wife, Pamela and his mother, Joanne, James is survived by his sons, A.J. Shaffer and wife, Elana of DuBois; Matthew Mercer of St. Marys; his step daughters Tina Hadden and husband Mark of Seymour, MO and Kayla Shearman and husband Brad of Johnstown.  He is also survived by a brother Harry Stevenson and wife Joyce of Punxsutawney; four sisters, Karen Brown and husband Ronald of Punxsutawney, Sandra Condron and husband Eric of Rochesater Mills, Melvina Bair and husband Buddy of Reynoldsville, and Michelle Phillips and husband Rob of Punxsutawney.  Six grandchildren, Zane, Kaydence, Zander, Landon, Jordyn, and Brayden.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jim, whom he loved and spoke of often.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, officiated by Doug Wolfe.

Memorial donations may be made to the family.
