Donald Leroy Siverling

Donald Leroy Siverling, 82 of Punxsutawney passed away quietly at his home on Thursday, September 8, 2016.

Mr. Siverling was born on February 11, 1934, a son of the late Lex and Vera (Hinton) Siverling.

Donald was a US Army veteran and served during the Korean War as a paratrooper. Following service to his country, he farmed, worked in maintenance at a mill in Scottsdale, Texas and later as a tree trimmer for Penn Lines.

Donald enjoyed electric trains and working puzzles. He also enjoyed tinkering and together he and his brother Carl Siverling once cut the top off an old Model A Ford and put it on the RR tracks and drove it to Cloe, just for fun. Donald was a member of the Punxsutawney Eagles and the Punxsutawney American Legion.

Mr. Siverling is survived by his companion, Chrissy McIntyre; his daughter, Elsie Reitz and her husband William Colgan of Punxsutawney; a sister Eleanor Noel of Johnstown; two Brothers, Robert Siverling and his wife Myong Cha (Lee) of Virginia and Carl Siverling of Alaska. He is survived by three grandchildren; William Colgan III and his fiancé Marie, Nathan S. Colgan and his wife Katie, and James R. Colgan. Donald is also survived by three great-grandchildren; Kalie, Natalie and Trenton Colgan.

Donald was preceded in death by his son Donald Siverling, Jr., his parents, and two infant sisters, Lexi and Grace Siverling.

Friends will be received for visitation on Monday, September 12, from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc of Punxsutawney followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Military honors will be accorded by the Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guard.

Mr. Siverling's ashes will be interred the Circle Hill Cemetery in Punxsutawney. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Donald’s honor may be made to the American Heart Association.
