Daniel Richard "Weasel" Obrien, 69, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Nelson Golden Years in DuBois.
He was born on September 16, 1946 in Spangler, a son of the late William E. Obrien, Sr. and Mary Ann (Douds) Obrien.
Dan was a coal miner working for Barnes and Tucker and Greenwich. He also worked for Drayer’s Florist making flower deliveries.
Daniel was a member of the Reynoldsville Eagles.
He was a kind hearted person and enjoyed visiting with people.
Surviving relatives include one son, James Daniel Obrien, Sr. of Punxsutanwey; two daughters, Patricia Smith of Punxsutawney; and Erin Obrien of Punxsutawney; nine grandchildren, James Daniel Obrien, Jr., Nathan, Brianna and Nicholas Obrien, Jeffery & Giles, Jacob and Matthias, and Amanda Cary and husband Kody; one great grandchild, Kaysen Cary; three sisters, Stella Akers of Reynoldsville, Mary Ann Burr of Reynoldsville; and Connie Battaglia of Brookville; and four brothers, Albert Obrien and wife Bonnie of Elmora; Dennis Obrien of Reynoldsville; Rocky Obrien of Florida; and John Obrien of Reynoldsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, William Obrien, Jr.
Friends will be received from Noon until 1 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Doug Wolfe.
Memorial donations may be made in Daniel’s memory to Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital Pyschiatric Unit or the Pediatric Unit.
