Clyde Leon Bish, 81, of Punxsutawney, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, December 23, 2017.

He was born in Porter Township on January 12, 1936, a son of the late Jesse Frank and Margaret (Justice) Bish.

Mr. Bish is a United States Army Veteran having served his country as a Military Policeman during the Korean Conflict.  During his service to this great nation, while stationed in Germany he saw the red haired, one hundred pound, young woman of his life, Maria "Helga" Ohl as she walked down the street.  It was truly love at first sight, as he was struck by her beauty and she was taken by a handsome young man in an Army uniform.  The two married on April, 10, 1957 and have enjoyed sixty years of marriage and raised a wonderful family.

Clyde worked for the United States Postal Service as a Rural Carrier, delivering the RD#2 route for over thirty five years.

He was a man of few words, he enjoyed his family and had a sense of humor and had the ability to make them laugh with his simple joking around.  He had a serious sweet tooth and loved all kinds of cookies, candies and deserts.

His hobbies were tending to his yard and fishing in the local area.

In addition to his dear wife Helga, he is survived by four children, Erik Bish and wife Christine of Mechanicsburg, Renee Jeu and husband Brooke of IJamsville, MD, Nicole Pouncy and husband Louis of New Cumberland, PA, and Kirk Bish and wife Robin of Punxsutawney; six grandchildren, Kyle and Tyler Jeu, Garrett, Lucie, Nolan and Ethan Bish; two brothers, Howard Bish of Punxsutawney, Eugene Bish of OK; one sister, ClairBelle Bish of Glen Campbell; brother inlaw and best friend George Ohl of Schweinfurt, Germany; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jesse F. Bish, Jr., two sisters, Louise Rowse and Beverly Mosier.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. officiated by Clyde's friend, Enos Coblentz.

He will be interred at Zion Cemetery in Porter, where military honors will be accorded by the Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guard.
