Anna Mae Bowers, 93, of Punxsutawney (Troutville area) died Monday, February 05, 2018 at Christ the King Manor.
She was born on September 22, 1924 at the home in which she spent her entire life, the daughter of the late Arthur B. and Anna Belle (Dush) Haag.
Anna Mae was a member of the Troutville United Church of Christ.
She became the wife of James Doyle Bowers. They had a wonderful marriage and spent many years together on the peaceful farm. He preceded her in death
Anna Mae and Jim had one daughter, Joan Louise Bowers. Joan fell ill and her mother lovingly cared for her at the farm until she passed away on June 13, 2017. The loss of Jim and Joan was heartbreaking for Anna Mae, but she and Joan's dog "Spike" pressed on each day.
Anna Mae was soft spoken, gentle, kind, and she always put others before herself. She was independent and didn't want to burden anyone, she continued to do as much as she could for herself, which included keeping her own house, cooking, mowing her own grass, and had a little garden she tended to up until last summer.
Her enjoyments were crocheting and piece Quilts.
In addition to her husband Jim and daughter Joan, she is preceded in death by her brother, Burnett Haag.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.
